Restorative Dentistry

What is Restorative Dentistry?

Restorative dentistry focuses on repairing and restoring the function and appearance of teeth that have been damaged by decay, trauma, or wear. When cavities, cracks, or missing teeth compromise your oral health, restorative treatments help bring your smile back to life. Common procedures include fillings, crowns, bridges, dentures/partial dentures, and dental implants—each tailored to your specific needs. At our office, we use advanced technology and gentle care to ensure your comfort every step of the way. Whether you're dealing with a small cavity or need a full-mouth restoration, our goal is to help you regain a strong, confident smile that lasts.

What are dental fillings?

Dental fillings are among the most common and effective treatments for restoring teeth affected by cavities or minor fractures. When decay creates a hole or compromises the tooth’s structure, a filling seals the area to prevent further damage and restore normal function and appearance. The decayed portion is carefully removed using specialized dental instruments—a critical step to halt the spread of bacteria and prepare the tooth for restoration. Once the filling is placed, it is shaped to match your natural bite and polished for a smooth finish.

What are dental crowns and bridges?

A dental crown is a tooth-shaped cap placed over a damaged, decayed, or weakened tooth to restore its shape, strength, and appearance. It can also be placed on top of a dental implant.  Similarly, a dental bridge is a restoration made of multiple crowns linked together and is used to replace one or more missing teeth. It literally “bridges” the gap between teeth using artificial teeth anchored by crowns on adjacent natural teeth or implants. Both crowns and bridges are fixed permanently in the mouth using specialized cement to keep them in place. Crowns and bridges typically last 7-10 years, but with proper care, can last much longer. They’re not just functional—they can dramatically improve your smile and chewing function.

What are dentures and partial dentures?
Dentures and partial dentures are removable dental appliances designed to replace missing teeth and surrounding tissue. Custom-made to fit your mouth, they help restore both the appearance and function of your natural teeth. Full dentures replace all the teeth in either the upper or lower arch, resting directly on the gums and staying in place through suction or adhesive. Partial dentures, on the other hand, are used when only one or a few teeth are missing and are secured by attaching to your remaining natural teeth. Both types of dentures can significantly improve your ability to chew and enjoy a wider variety of foods.
What are dental implants?

Dental implants are a long-lasting, natural-looking solution for replacing missing teeth. They consist of small titanium posts that are surgically placed into the jaw, where they act as artificial tooth roots. Once healed, these implants provide a strong foundation for crowns, bridges, or dentures, restoring both the appearance and function of your smile. Dental implants look, feel, and function like real teeth—allowing you to eat, speak, and smile with confidence. They’re also designed to preserve jaw health and prevent the shifting of surrounding teeth.
